Flaws: HANDWRITTEN NAME, STREET ADDRESS, AND PHONE NUMBER IN BLUE INK ON THE FRONT MATTER OF "THE BELOVED INVADER," which is heavily worn with creased and rubbed covers, edge chipping, and browned brittle paper; a red bookstore stamp reading "HOOKED ON BOOKS / 104 E. Main / Weatherford, OK. 73096 / 772-2652 / PAPERBACKS - 1/2 COVER PRICE" in two of the three books; creased spines, rubbed covers, corner wear, and toned page edges throughout. Description Form: three softcover novels, reading copies, no hardcovers and no jackets. Together they are the complete three-book St. Simons Trilogy, though the three are different publishers and printings and are NOT a matched set. Construction and finish: "The Beloved Invader" is an older, smaller-format paperback with a painted antebellum cover scene and matte-finish stock, printed in U.S.A. per the back cover. "New Moon Rising" has a royal blue cover with white and gold script lettering inside a printed scroll border. "Lighthouse" has a muted painted cover of a lighthouse, dune grass, and a couple, with white lettering. Marks and imprints: "The Beloved Invader" - "SPIRE BOOKS 95" at the head, an Atlanta Journal blurb, and an interior leaf headed "A Great Writer's Finest Book" stating that Price's books "have been purchased by over a million readers in America and translated into seven foreign languages" and that she found her subject in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and its "beloved invader, Anson Dodge." "New Moon Rising" - ISBN 0-553-26848-1, price 495, with back-cover blurbs from the Cincinnati Enquirer, Charleston News & Courier, and Book News, one of which reads "Not since Gone With The Wind has a book told the South's story in the way that New Moon Rising does." "Lighthouse" - a Bantam printing whose interior carries a "BANTAM BOOKS Shop-at-Home Catalog" order leaf addressed to Dept. FC, 414 East Golf Road, Des Plaines, Ill. 60016, coded FC-9/81, plus a leaf headed "The Inspirational Fiction of Eugenia Price." An interior leaf in one volume carries endorsements from Augsburg Publishing House, novelist Frank G. Slaughter, and Faith Baldwin. Size: each approximately 6.75 inches tall by 4.25 inches wide, standard paperback format, with "The Beloved Invader" slightly smaller and thinner. The same source lists her later Florida trilogy, Savannah quartet, and Georgia trilogy, and notes her characters were often based on real people, researched in depth. "The Beloved Invader" centers on Anson Dodge and Christ Church on St. Simons Island, and the book's own jacket copy states that readers finished it wanting to visit Christ Church and find the graves of Anson, Ellen, and Anna. "New Moon Rising" and "Lighthouse" follow the James Gould family and the coastal Georgia dynasty, with text pages in this batch showing Granville, Massachusetts, Bangor, a June 1793 letter, Cannon's Point, and the Couper family. These are later paperback printings, not first editions. The "New Moon Rising" cover advertises "Stranger in Savannah," which was published in 1989, so that printing is 1989 or later, and the "Lighthouse" catalog leaf is coded 9/81.
