PAINTING, A LONG SCROLL OF INK PAINTING ON SILK. L:1800cm (708.66in) W:54.5cm (21.46in)This white-line jiehua (architectural boundary painting) long scroll on silk dates to the Yuan Dynasty, mounted with antique patterned silk brocade and bound by colorful geometric woven ribbon. The frontispiece is cyan silk woven with cloud patterns, bearing four large regular script characters Daming Palace Scroll inside diamond round frames, stamped with Qing imperial collection seals. The full scroll precisely reconstructs the entire panorama of the Tang Daming Palace with ruler-drawn fine white lines, including halls, pavilions, multi-story towers, palace walls, stone bridges, imperial garden water systems, sailing boats and attendants laid out in layers. Architectural brackets, carved railings, dragon-head stone spouts and ship details are rendered with extreme rigor, featuring smooth, forceful brush lines characteristic of Wang Zhenpeng, the master of Yuan jiehua. A dated signature is visible on a segment: Painted by Wang Zhenpeng, the Recluse of Solitary Cloud, in the Renzi year, late first year of Huangqing reign, dating the work to the reign of Emperor Renzong of Yuan. Numerous red imperial collection seals of successive dynasties are stamped across the scroll. At the end, lengthy running script colophons by ancient masters record textual research and odes about Daming Palace on green gold-speckled silk, headed by large calligraphy title Brush Dust & Golden Sand, with complete, traceable collection provenance ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.
