L:2000cm (787.40in) W:49cm (19.29in)This national treasure-level heavy green landscape long scroll on silk dates to the Northern Song Dynasty, furnished with original cloud-dragon patterned silk mounting and matching silk pouch bound by woven ribbon. The frontispiece bears large regular script title Thousands of Miles of Rivers and Mountains on crimson silk decorated with colorful cloud-dragon patterns, stamped with imperial palace collection seals. The whole scroll depicts rolling mountains, river sandbars, fishing villages, long bridges, cottages and travelers laid out with rich azurite and malachite green pigments, featuring layered massive mountain forms and bright gorgeous hues, the pinnacle of Northern Song green landscape painting. Segment inscriptions Spirit, Supreme Treasure, Appreciation Charm, Unrivaled Genius of Heaven are visible, alongside numerous imperial collection seals of past dynasties. Extended poetic colophons and critical appraisals by Ming and Qing masters including Shen Zhou and Deng Shiru are attached at the end.
