Height:30cm (11.81in) , Diameter:31cm (12.20in) This imposing octagonal jar features eight?sided rim, short neck, broad full shoulder and rounded belly, representing classic Yuan?dynasty octagonal porcelain form. Neck and rim are decorated with surging ocean?wave patterns. The whole body is densely painted in cobalt?blue with scrolling foliage and lotus blooms. Rhombus?shaped medallions reserve spaces for ??phoenix in harmony?? scene, with elegantly?posed paired phoenixes, layered plumage interwoven with blossoms and auspicious plants. The cobalt pigment presents rich saturated blue with multi?tonal layers, executed with mature outline?and?fill technique in dense yet well?organized composition. The unglazed sandy base has heavy robust body, marked by aged earth patina and period wear. Yuan octagonal blue?and?white jars are extremely rare.
