LARGE GROUP OF RECIPE EPHEMERA - HANDWRITTEN AND TYPED FAMILY RECIPES, GRACEMONT AND ANADARKO FIRST STATE BANK TELLER RECIPE CARDS, ADVERTISING RECIPE BOOKLETS, AND A MANILA FOLDER OF SLEEVED RECIPE PAGES
This is the working recipe file out of the estate kitchen, sold as one group of loose paper. It centers on a manila file folder holding typed and handwritten recipes in clear plastic sheet protectors, with more loose sheets, cards, clippings, and small booklets stacked alongside. The handwritten material is the heart of the lot - cursive recipe pages on plain and legal-pad paper for Chicken Supreme credited in the heading to a family cook, Chicken Chinese Noodle Casserole, Jambalaya Soup, Cape Cod Bonbons with a phone number jotted at the top, Spiced Tea, and a Chess Pie made on an electric range, plus quick notes on scratch pads. The printed side of the lot includes a run of First State Bank "Teller Recipe" cards on red and green stock, printed with the bank's ANADARKO, 102 West Main, 405/247-2471 and GRACEMONT, West Main Street, 405/966-2222 offices at the foot, carrying Brunch Casserole, Sausage Quiche, Ham Quiche, The Best Meatloaf, Tex-Mex Casserole, Easy Chuck Roast, and Tuna Casserole. There is also a Better Homes & Gardens Spice and Herb Chart card with a folk-art border, a Swanson Simply Delicious, Sensational Low-Fat Cooking Ideas, Second Edition advertising booklet, a Nordic Ware Electric Multi-Fri-Cook recipes-and-hints booklet, a Diabetic Cooking magazine with a Holiday Desserts cover, an allrecipes.com preview issue, a 1997 "Sharing the Joys this Christmas" booklet with typewriter-style recipes, a newspaper food-page clipping headed "Readers offer many variations to request for meat loaf," and note sheets from Oklahoma School Supply, Oklahoma City ("DON'T SAY IT - WRITE IT"), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, OSU, and Federal Land Bank Association of Anadarko letterhead. The Gracemont and Anadarko bank cards and the Anadarko letterhead make this a genuinely local Caddo County paper lot as much as a recipe lot, and go-through-the-box groups like this are where the good handwritten family recipes turn up. Bidders should understand that this is a loose, unsorted paper group with age staining, food spotting, and creasing throughout, and that the exact number of pieces is not counted. Sold as one lot of loose recipe papers, cards, clippings, and booklets as pictured.
