The acronym "DJV" stands for the Deutscher Jagdverband(German Hunting Association). This organization was founded in 1949 in post-war West Germany to replace the wartime hunting body. The hilt features brass fittings including a fluted pommel cap, hooved quillons on the crossguard, and a fluted clamshell handguard. The single-edged, unfullered steel blade is decorated with light etched floral scrollwork near the ricasso and fits into a black leather scabbard with an acorn-embossed brass throat mount and matching brass chape. Condition appears overall fair to good, showing age-appropriate patina and tarnish to the brass fittings.
