LLADR GRS PORCELAIN FIGURINE - "SINCERITY", No. 2422, PRIVILEGE, SCULPTED BY BEGOA JAUREGUI, ISSUED 2001 AND RETIRED 2003, 17 INCHES TALL The thirteenth Lladr piece from this estate and by far the largest and most dramatic of the group. A tall standing young woman in a flowing teal-blue robe stands with her head bowed, holding a spray of hand-applied white lilies with green leaves cradled against her chest. This is a grs piece, Lladr's matte stoneware body, so the surface is soft and stone-like rather than glossy, with the robe worked in mottled blue-green washes over an ochre and gold accented underskirt patterned in pale rose and cream. At 17 inches tall it is a floor-scale or console-scale statement piece rather than a shelf figurine. The underside carries the blue printed LLADR PRIVILEGE backstamp, the impressed model number 2422, and a round paper factory dot printed 335 0. No box is shown in these photographs, so none is included. Sold as one figurine. Description Lladr grs porcelain figurine of a standing young woman, full length, head bowed and turned down and to the side, standing with the weight settled and the robe falling to the base. Long full robe with wide draped sleeves in mottled teal blue-green, the matte grs surface carrying soft tonal variation and ochre and gold accents worked through the folds; an underskirt visible at the front is decorated in pale cream, rose, and gold with a scrolling floral pattern. Long dark brown hair parted and falling loose down the back, modeled in soft sweeping strands. Both hands hold a spray of hand-applied white lilies or narcissus with yellow centers and green leaves and stems against the chest, the flowers modeled thin and separately applied. Face and hands finished in a soft pale flesh tone, the only areas of warm color against the blue. Flowing irregular base formed by the hem of the robe, so the piece stands directly on the skirt with no separate plinth; the underside is hollow with a large unglazed matte biscuit-colored interior. The underside is marked with the blue printed Lladr bell-flower logo, LLADR, and PRIVILEGE, with smaller lines beneath that include a MADE IN SPAIN and DAISA copyright line which are too small to read in the photograph, together with the impressed model number 2422, additional faint impressed factory characters, and a round paper factory dot printed 335 0. 17 inches tall, consistent with the tape-measure photograph, in which the tape is stood on the carpet alongside the figure rather than fixed to it, so the height is a close estimate. No width or depth is claimed. Bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs. No original carton, foam, or paperwork appears in any photograph, so no box is claimed and none should be assumed. Attribution note Lladr is the Spanish porcelain house founded by the brothers Juan, Jos, and Vicente Lladr near Valencia in the 1950s. DAISA is the group entity holding the design copyrights, so a DAISA date in a Lladr mark is a design copyright date rather than necessarily the year the piece was made. Privilege was Lladr's membership club program in the 2000s, the successor arrangement to the earlier Lladr Collectors Society, and pieces issued through it carry the Privilege line in the backstamp as this one does; the 7704 Gardens of Athens and 7694 Princess of the Fairies figures in this sale carry the same Privilege mark. Grs is Lladr's stoneware body, fired to a matte, slightly grainy, stone-like finish rather than the high gloss of the standard porcelain line, and it was used for the taller, more sculptural, more muted subjects; grs pieces read as art pottery rather than as traditional Lladr and are a distinct collecting category. The model number 2422 is read directly from the impressed mark on the base, and per the consignor's research this model is "Sincerity", sculpted by Begoa Jauregui, issued in 2001 and retired in 2003, standing 17 inches, in grs with gold accents. A two-year production window makes it a comparatively short run.
