A young fairy lies asleep on a mossy bank with her cheek resting on her folded arms over a soft pillow, her long white gown spread out behind her and one bare foot showing at the hem. She wears a crown of applied pink and white blossoms in her hair, and a pair of large translucent butterfly wings veined and spotted in coral-pink rise from her back. The base is modeled as a green-washed grassy mound with a cluster of applied cream and pink flowers along the front edge. The underside carries the blue printed LLADR PRIVILEGE backstamp with HAND MADE IN SPAIN and a DAISA copyright line, the impressed model number 7694, and a small round factory paper dot. Approximately 5 inches tall and 7 inches across. No box is shown in these photographs, so none is included. Sold as one figurine. Description Lladr hand-painted glazed porcelain figurine of a reclining winged fairy girl, lying on her side with her head down on her folded arms and her cheek against a soft white pillow or bundled cloth. Long auburn hair falling loose over her shoulder and down her back, dressed with a band of applied pink and white blossoms with green leaves across the crown of the head. Two large butterfly wings modeled thin and translucent, hand-painted with coral-pink spots and veining over pale cream, standing up from the shoulders; these are the thinnest and most vulnerable elements on the piece. Full white gown with a soft blue-gray tint in the shadows, the skirt spread in deep sculpted folds behind her, with one bare foot and toes emerging at the hem and the other leg tucked under. Irregular oval base washed in green and cream to read as a grassy bank, with a modeled rock or stone at the head end and a cluster of applied cream, yellow, and pink five-petal blossoms with green leaves at the front edge. The underside is marked with the blue printed Lladr bell-flower logo, LLADR, and PRIVILEGE, with smaller lines reading HAND MADE IN SPAIN and a DAISA copyright, together with the impressed model number 7694, a small impressed diamond mark, and a round paper factory dot printed with numerals that are only partly legible in the photograph. The DAISA year reads as 2007 in the photograph but is small enough that it should be confirmed in hand. Approximately 5 inches tall at the wing tips per the vertical tape-measure photograph, in which the tape is stood on the carpet beside the piece rather than fixed to it, and approximately 7 inches across per the horizontal tape photograph, in which the tape lies on the carpet in front of the piece rather than against it, so both figures are close estimates. Bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs. The base of the figure was photographed but no original carton, foam, or paperwork appears in any photograph, so no box is claimed and none should be assumed. Attribution note Lladr is the Spanish porcelain house founded by the brothers Juan, Jos, and Vicente Lladr near Valencia in the 1950s. DAISA is the group entity holding the design copyrights, so a DAISA date in a Lladr backstamp is a design copyright date rather than necessarily the year the piece was made. Privilege was Lladr's membership club program in the 2000s, the successor arrangement to the earlier Lladr Collectors Society, and pieces issued through it carry the Privilege line in the backstamp as this one does. The model number 7694 is read directly from the impressed mark on the base, and the consignor's own research identifies this model as Princess of the Fairies, which is consistent with the winged reclining fairy subject and the flowered bank. This piece and the 7704 Gardens of Athens figure in this sale are the two Privilege-marked pieces in the estate group and carry closely related mark styles.
