The pommel, cross?guard and grip feature elaborate open?work structures set upon gold?inlaid ground inlaid with turquoise and carved interlocking chilong motifs, presenting sumptuous ornamentation. The slender long blade bears a prominent central ridge. Its surfaces are alternately decorated with gold?inlaid and silver?inlaid dragon?phoenix auspicious?beast figures interspersed with turquoise?inlaid geometric background patterns. Elegant bird?and?worm?script characters are gold?inlaid in the middle section of blade. The blade tapers to a sharp tip, covered with rich mottled ancient patina. Integrating sophisticated casting, gold?silver inlay, gem?setting and epigraphy, it represents a noble?rank ceremonial sword of Warring?States period.
