Excellent selection of an Art Nouveau styled Easel Clock, perfect for antique collectibility. Clock is made of a wooden base with a sterling silver front. Back of the clock showcases that the clock was made by “The British United Clock Co.” of Birmingham, England.
The Sterling Silver front portion of the clock displays a set of hallmarks from the Birmingham Assay Office.
- “J.G” meaning that the item was produced by John Grinsell & Sons, a silversmith in Birmingham, England
- “Lion” meaning that the item is 92.5% pure silver (sterling)
- “Lowercase G in a Shield” meaning that the assay year is 1906
Clock measures 5.5” H x 5” W x 2.5” D and total weight is 16.275 ozt (but much of the weight is wood and internal clock mechanism, not entirely sterling silver).
