This is an Armi San Marco reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army, specifically the Hartford Model, chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge. This example is configured as a Sheriffs Model with a 3 inch barrel and notably lacks an ejector rod and housing. The firearm features a high-polish blued finish on the barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard, while the frame exhibits a vibrant color case-hardened finish. The revolver is fitted with smooth walnut grips, with the right-side panel featuring an incised decorative flourish. Standard fixed sights are present, consisting of a front blade and a grooved top strap. Prominent markings include the top of the barrel stamped HARTFORD CT MODEL U.S.A. and the left side marked 45 COLT. The left side of the frame carries the two-line patent dates PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. and PAT. JULY. 2. 1872. The underside of the barrel is marked ASM ITAL. ENF SA CAL followed by a star, indicating manufacture by Armi San Marco in Italy and importation by EMF. Italian proof marks including the PSF with star and a shield with star are visible on the frame and cylinder.
