THREE BAKING AND WEEKNIGHT COOKBOOKS - BETTER HOMES & GARDENS DESSERT COOK BOOK 1960, BH&G COOKIES FOR CHRISTMAS, AND SOUTHERN LIVING OUR BEST EASY WEEKNIGHT FAVORITES
Three hardcover cookbooks from this estate's kitchen shelf, two of them Better Homes and Gardens titles and one from Oxmoor House. The oldest is the Better Homes & Gardens Dessert Cook Book, the classic red Meredith hardcover copyright 1960, advertised on the jacket as All-time favorites plus exciting new desserts - over 400 recipes, with the period color food photography that collectors of mid-century cookbooks look for: strawberry shortcake under drifts of whipped cream, meringues on a tiered stand, tinted cakes, and iced cookies. Next is Better Homes and Gardens Cookies for Christmas, a glossy red laminated hardcover with a gingerbread house, decorated bears, stars, candy canes, and cutouts on the cover, holding nearly 100 tested Christmas cookie recipes. Third is Southern Living OUR BEST Easy Weeknight Favorites from Oxmoor House, a laminated pictorial hardcover with red endpapers, organized as complete weeknight menus with prep and cook times, groceries-needed and equipment-needed sidebars, and a numbered menu plan on each spread. The three work together as a dessert-and-supper set: one for old-fashioned pies, cakes and puddings, one for the Christmas baking season, and one for getting a full meal on the table on a weeknight. Bidders should note that the Dessert Cook Book's dust jacket is heavily worn, chipped, torn, and repaired with old clear tape at the corners and spine ends, with the tape now browned and lifting. The two later books are clean and bright. This lot follows the other estate cookbook lots offered in this sale. Sold as a lot of 3 books.
