THREE VOLUMES - CHRISTMAS WITH SOUTHERN LIVING, 1981, 1982, AND 1983 - OXMOOR HOUSE HARDCOVERS WITH DUST JACKETS
Three consecutive annual volumes of Christmas with Southern Living - the 1981, 1982, and 1983 editions - published by Oxmoor House, Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama, the book division associated with Southern Living magazine. All three are hardcover in the series' large square-ish format with bright photographic dust jackets: pine boughs and cones on the 1981, an antique toy still life on the 1982, and a spread of decorated Christmas cookies on the 1983. Each volume runs the familiar chapter mix of holiday decorating ideas, craft and bazaar projects with full-size patterns, seasonal recipes, gift suggestions, and a "Christmas Journal" planning section with day-by-day pages and a Holiday Snapshots page. Interior pages photographed here are clean, bright, and fully illustrated in color, and the journal pages appear unused. Bidders should note that the condition issues in this lot are in the dust jackets rather than the books: the 1981 and 1982 jackets have significant tears, chips, and losses at the corners and edges, and the 1982 jacket also shows tan spotting and soiling across the top of the front panel. These are popular volumes with collectors of the series, with holiday cooks who use the cookie and confection recipes, and with anyone chasing a complete run of the annuals. This lot pairs with the other estate kitchen, cookbook, and holiday lots offered in this sale. Sold as a lot of 3 books.

Dimensions: each volume measures approximately 10-1/4 to 10-1/2 inches tall and approximately 8-3/4 inches wide per the tape-measure photographs. On the measuring shots the tape hook rests on the table or on top of the cover rather than hooked over the book edge, so both figures are close estimates. Spine thickness and page counts were not measured. Bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs.
Interior content photographed includes a "Mantels & Windows" decorating chapter with full-color room and mantel photography, the craft and bazaar project sections, the recipe chapters, and the blank "Christmas Journal" calendar and Holiday Snapshots pages. Jacket flap text on the 1982 and 1983 volumes describes the Christmas Bazaar craft chapter, the Celebrations from the Kitchen recipe chapter, the Joys of Giving gift chapter, and the full-size pattern section at the back of the book.
Attribution note
Christmas with Southern Living was the annual holiday volume published by Oxmoor House, Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama, the book publishing arm associated with Southern Living magazine and its parent Southern Progress organization.
