Swedish Model 1815-38-49 .71-.72 caliber single-shot percussion military musket, originally manufactured in Model 1815 flintlock form and subsequently arsenal altered. The 42.25-inch barrel is mounted in a full-length hardwood stock with three barrel bands, iron furniture, brass blade front sight, adjustable-style rear sight, and iron ramrod with spiral worm end. Includes a leather sling and three-sided socket bayonet. The lock carries a Crown/S/29 inspection marking, the left screw plate carries a Crown/P, and the heel of the buttplate is numbered 4000 and dated 1838.
CONDITION: Substantial military use and age with overall patina, oxidation, scattered pitting, finish loss, scratches, dings, and handling wear. Stock has heavy dents, scratches, finish loss, carved marks, and localized surface deterioration at the butt. Rear sight elevator is missing. Sling is heavily worn, cracked, frayed, and broken in areas. Socket bayonet has rust, oxidation, and dark patina. Action is tight.
