Introduced in 1977 (the " -1" designates an engineering change), it features a "pinned" half lugged barrel, 6 shot fluted cylinder, adjustable rear sight with a red ramp fixed front, checkered walnut factory grips with medallions, a smooth double/single action trigger, and a wide checkered spur target hammer, made for law enforcement and civilians alike. Known for its accuracy and reliability, it was a popular duty weapon, praised for its solid feel and performance. This model is the 4" version.
