Our Assessment: This pistol presents in solid overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original finish. The exterior surfaces are clean and even with only light handling evidence, and the pistol maintains the familiar full size 1911 profile scaled for rimfire use. The controls, grip frame, and slide geometry mirror the traditional 1911 layout, giving the pistol the look and feel of its centerfire counterpart while remaining economical and easy to shoot.
Mechanically, the pistol functions correctly. The bore rates 8.5 out of 10, showing good rifling and brightness with wear consistent with light use. The action cycles smoothly, and the rimfire operating system provides reliable performance suited to range use and training. Balance and handling are comfortable and intuitive, especially for shooters accustomed to the 1911 platform.
Historically, the Sig Sauer 1911-22 was introduced as a training and recreational pistol that allowed shooters to practice with 1911 ergonomics using affordable .22 LR ammunition. Examples like this, with strong remaining finish and correct mechanical operation, remain popular for both casual shooting and skill development while preserving the classic 1911 aesthetic.
