The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will conduct a public auction for the NJDOT‑owned property identified as Route 78, Section 5F, Parcels X177B, X178B, and X354B. The property is located in the City of Newark, County of Essex, Block 3061, Lot 65, and consists of approximately 3,430± square feet (0.079± acres) of fee simple area. The auction will be hosted on www.Municibid.com and is scheduled to begin at 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time on May 19, 2026. The physical address of the property is 35–45 Ida B. Wells Place. The site consists of three vacant, contiguous parcels known to NJDOT as Parcels X177B, X178B, and X354B. These parcels share continuity of ownership and are assessed by the City of Newark as a single parcel. The property is a triangular tract located along the southerly side of Ida B. Wells Place, a local one‑way roadway. It is situated on Ida B. Wells Place between its intersections with Hobson Street and Dewey Street. The tract has approximately 105 feet of frontage along the southerly side of Ida B. Wells Place, a southeasterly sideline of about 78 feet, and a westerly sideline of about 77 feet. The subject property has an existing curb cut to Ida B. Wells Place located at the northwest corner of the site. The property consists of vacant land and is zoned R‑2, permitting one‑ to three‑family residential use. The purchaser will accept the property in its current physical condition, and the seller shall not be liable for the correction of any conditions or for obtaining any local approvals for improvement. The property may not be used for the display or erection of commercial billboards, signs, devices, or advertising displays, and may not be used for the storage of salvaged materials or as a junk yard.
