Schmidt. A Rookwood Pottery earthenware vase of ovoid form with a slightly flared rim and tapering base, featuring the Vellum glaze line. The body is decorated with hand-painted iris blossoms in shades of pale blue with sweeping green leaves, set against a soft-focus atmospheric background transitioning from lavender-blue to celadon green. The base is impressed with the Rookwood flame mark, the Roman numeral XIV indicating the year 1914, shape number 283, and the letter V for Vellum. It also bears the incised monogram of artist Carl Schmidt (1875-1959) within a circle. Height: 9 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available.
