Vase. A professional art pottery vase manufactured by Rookwood Pottery of Cincinnati, Ohio. This earthenware vessel features a bulbous body with a short neck and a flared, rolled rim. The exterior is finished in a mottled medium-blue glaze that exhibits a fine, overall surface crazing characteristic of the period. The shoulder and neck are decorated with a molded relief design consisting of stylized scrolls and a repeating vertical fluted or petal-like motif. The base is impressed with the Rookwood RP logo surrounded by 14 flames, the Roman numeral date mark XXVII for 1927, and the production shape number 2909. Height: 5.5 inches.
