Remington Model M1917 Sporter

(R) Serial 348045. .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle with a 22” barrel. The bore is good, dirty with good rifling, it is packed with cosmoline. Originally a US military rifle made in July of 1918, the rifle was subsequently crudely sporterized by cutting back the barrel and stock, discarding the hand guard and barrel bands, and attaching a 1903 style front sight to the barrel. The black metal finish on the barrel, receiver and floor plate/trigger guard resembles black stoving paint and is in very good condition showing edge wear and scratches. The cut down military stock is in good condition showing dings, scratches and finish wear. Original rear military sight and sling swivel. The action works fine. Includes a leather sling in quick detach swivels and a slip-on rubber recoil pad. C&R.
