TIANQING WHITE JADE THREE-INLAID RUYI. Long:53cm (20.87in) , Width:12cm (4.72in) , Weight:760g (1.676lb) Carved from solid precious zitan wood with deep tone and mellow patina. The reverse side is fully incised with gilded imperial poems and multiple seal marks in neat calligraphy. Following the classic three?inlay style, three Hetian greenish?white jade plaques are embedded at head, shaft middle and terminal. The head plaque is relief?carved with eight?treasure auspicious patterns; the central plaque bears seal?script ??Shou (Longevity) ?? character; the terminal plaque features ??Peaceful Elephant?? motif. The jade is fine and lustrous with exquisite carving. Combining wood sculpture, jade carving and gilded poem inscriptions, this is an important Qing court display object symbolizing fortune and longevity, ideal for decoration and ceremonial gift?giving.
