This direct model is the 1927 Ford Tri-Motor Aircraft Model and is 4th in the “Wings of Phillips 66” series. Introduced in 2012, the model is a 1:34 scale replica featuring a 12” wingspan and 9” fuselage. It includes a rotating propeller, movable wing and tail flaps, and holds dual purpose as a functioning coin bank. It comes complete in box with all the original packaging. Produced by Ertl Collectables, “Wings of Phillips 66” is long-running series of die-cast models that commemorates the aviation history of the Phillips 66 Oil Company. Each model is a detailed replica of a real aircraft flown in Phillips 66’s corporate fleet. The series began production in 2010 and typically features real working rotating propellers and other details. Many also often hold dual purpose, also being a coin bank as well. The model is based on the Phillip’s 66 original 1927 Ford Tri-Motor, the famous “Woolaroc”. Entered into the 1927 Dole Air Race, the Woolaroc won a grueling 2,400-mile race from Oakland to Hawaii. The original aircraft is currently preserved today at the Woolaroc Museum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Item is still in original box with interior packing materials intact.
