Mt. Julien Hotel Cash Register

22 x 17 x 15 1/2 inches. Brass, wood, marble, and glass elements. Lots 1-114 are from the estate of Mike and Joyce Fowler, whose relatives (the Fowler and Thomson families) owned and operated Mt. Julian Hotel and General Store on the north shore of Stony Lake. Mt. Julian Hotel was established in 1874. It served as a lodging house for the lumber industry as well as landing point for steamships whose freight would continue north by horse and buggy. The hotel became a tourist destination in the early 1900s with guests arriving by steamboat. The Mt. Julian General store ran until the mid-1940s providing necessities and post office services to locals and tourists. Mike and Joyce sold Mt. Julian in 1999. The hotel is a fine dining restaurant today.
