Description
The Mk 76 Mod 5 Practice Bomb is a small U.S. military inert training bomb used primarily by aircraft for bombing practice. Painted blue to indicate an inert training device, it was designed to simulate the weight and ballistic characteristics of larger live bombs while using only a small spotting charge or smoke marker to show where the bomb impacted. These practice bombs were commonly used by U.S. aircraft during the Vietnam War and continue to be used for pilot training ranges, allowing crews to practice bombing techniques without the destructive power of live ordnance. Sold as an inert training/display piece — contains no primer, propellant, or explosive material; please view photos for more details.
