R Serial # 5272h. 8x57 Mauser caliber bolt action rifle with a 23-1/2” barrel. The bore is very good, mostly clean with good rifling with some light fouling. This is a sporterized Model K98 WWII era Military Mauser. The rifle was sporterized sporterized by discarding the military stock and military sights, altering the bolt and placing the action in a sporter stock. The blued metal finish on the barrel and receiver is in very good condition showing some scattered light scuffs and scratches. The receiver has been drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The checkered walnut stock with a black nose piece and grip cap is a Fajen replacement and is in very good condition showing some scattered light marks with light finish wear. Plastic butt plate. The numbers matching bolt has been jeweled and the handle altered for scope clearance. Plastic butt plate. Lyman hooded front sight, no provision for a rear sight. The action functions fine. Includes a Simmons 8-Point 3-9x40 scope in Leupold style mounts. C&R.
