This M1 Helmet features the classic steel shell with swivel bale chin strap loops that hinge in and out from the sides, paired with a removable liner marked “US 47” at the top interior indicating 1947 production. Helmets of this configuration represent the later production pattern of the M1 helmet that continued into the post-World War II period, as the design remained in service for decades with periodic liner replacements and refurbishments. The combination of the swivel bale shell and the 1947-dated liner reflects a typical late-to-post WWII service configuration of the widely issued U.S. military helmet system.
