Excellent selection of Juxtapoz Magazine, Summer 1997 issue autographed by cover artist Chris Copper, better known as “Coop”.
Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine is a famous San Francisco based publication known in some circles as the “Bible of Underground Art”. It was founded in 1994 by legendary painter Robert Williams to become the platform for pop surrealism and representational art, pulling inspiration from sources like comic books, hot rod culture, psychedelic posters, and street art.
For the direct Summer 1997 issue (as the magazine is released quarterly), professional artist “Coop” is featured as the cover story. His artwork blends 1950’s retro kitsch, hot rod culture, and provocative dark humor. He is especially known for being a leading figure in the 90’s rock poster boom.
The magazine itself is in clean condition with sharp corner representation. Cover work showcases Coop’s edgy styling with a vibrant green alien character and overall space theme. Signature showcasing “Coop 97” is situated on the front in what looks to be a light blue felt tip pen. Overall magazine is formally bagged and boarded.
