Scabbards. This lot consists of Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Shin-gunto swords from the World War II era, likely Type 94 or early-production Type 98 variants based on the presence of hanger rings (ashi) on each scabbard. The first item is an assembled sword with a hilt that is missing its original rayskin (same) and silk wrap (ito), currently secured with black adhesive tape. The accompanying steel scabbard shows heavy overall oxidation and a rusted patina. The second item is a disassembled machine-made military blade (showato) and a steel scabbard. The blade tang (nakago) has a mounting hole (mekugi-ana) and features stamped Arabic numerals 9 and 6, along with a degraded circular arsenal inspection mark. The scabbard for the disassembled blade matches the first in configuration but has a grey, heavily pitted surface. Scabbard length: 28.5 inches<br>Blade and tang overall length: 35 inches.
