VINTAGE F.B. ROGERS STYLE SILVERPLATE PIERCED GALLERY CASSEROLE HOLDER WITH DOMED LID AND OVAL CLEAR OVENWARE BAKING INSERT
Handsome mid-century silverplate covered casserole server in the F.B. Rogers manner, consisting of an oval footed stand with a pierced reticulated gallery, a high-domed silverplate cover with an ornate openwork scroll loop finial, and a clear oval ovenware glass baking dish that drops into the frame. The frame is bright, well polished, and carries cast Rococo scroll side handles and four cast acanthus scroll feet. This is the classic buffet and holiday serving form - bake in the glass liner, set it into the silver stand, cover it, and carry it straight to the table. Also displays well as a centerpiece or a covered vegetable dish. Sold as one three-piece set: silverplate stand, glass ovenware insert, and silverplate lid.

Attribution note
F.B. Rogers Silver Co. was founded in 1883 and operated from Taunton, Massachusetts, and is well known for silverplated hollowware, including pierced gallery casserole stands made to hold Pyrex-style glass liners, most of which date to roughly the 1940s through the 1960s. The pierced gallery, scrolled cast handles, acanthus feet, and openwork finial on this piece match that documented F.B. Rogers casserole-holder form, and Replacements, Ltd. catalogs an F.B. Rogers 1543 silverplate hollowware line. However, because no hallmark is visible in these photographs, the maker attribution is offered as the consignor's photo-based opinion and is not claimed or guaranteed. Very similar stands were also produced by Wm. Rogers, International, Wallace, and other American platers. Bid on the item as pictured.
Condition
Used vintage condition, sold as-is. The silverplate presents bright and clean with good reflective plate on the stand, the handles, and the lid. Expected light surface scratching, faint handling marks, and minor age haze are visible under raking light, along with slight darkening in the recesses of the cast handles, the feet, and the finial mount. No dents, splits, or breaks in the plate are apparent in the photographs, and no significant plate loss or copper bleed-through is visible, though close inspection of the pierced gallery, the feet, the handle joins, and the lid rim is recommended as those are the usual wear points. The glass ovenware insert is clear and bright with normal utensil marks and light interior wear from use; no chips, flakes, or cracks are visible in the photographs, but the flange rim and the base ring are the vulnerable areas and should be checked. Photos are part of the description.
Notes for bidders
Hand-wash the silverplate only, using warm water and a soft cloth, and never put plated pieces in a dishwasher or in contact with abrasive polishes, which remove plate. The glass insert is oven-safe ovenware but should not be taken from freezer to hot oven or placed on a direct flame or burner, and the silverplate stand and lid are not oven-safe. Only the 3 pieces pictured are included in this lot.
