Pistol .32 Rimfire with 3 3/8 Inch Barrel Antique. This E. Remington & Sons Elliot four-barrel pepperbox derringer is chambered in .32 rimfire and features a stationary barrel cluster that tips up at the muzzle for loading. The pistol is operated by a distinctive ring-shaped trigger that actuates an internal rotating firing pin mechanism designed to fire each barrel in succession. The 3 3/8 inch barrels exhibit a dark, mottled patina with heavy surface oxidation and pitting consistent with its nineteenth-century origins. The frame is fitted with dark wood bird's head grips that show age-appropriate wear and handling marks. While the internal mechanism rotates upon trigger pull, the firing pin itself is not visible at the breech face. Key markings include MANUFACTURED BY E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. on the left side of the barrel cluster and ELLIOT'S PATENT. MAY 29. 1860. OCT. 1. 1861. on the right side. The serial number 24666 is recorded for this specimen. Sights consist of a simple post front sight and a notched rear sight integrated into the frame. This item is either black powder or manufactured in or before 1898 (and does not take readily available ammunition), and thus does not require an FFL or background check.
