This D'Armes Chatellerault MLE 1884 Gras rifle is a remarkable example of late 19th-century military firearms technology. Chambered in 11x59mmR Gras and fitted with a 28.5-inch barrel featuring a shiny bore, this black powder military rifle remains in good overall condition and retains its original wooden furniture. The rifle is equipped with its military ladder sight and includes a bayonet, creating a highly desirable display package for collectors of antique military arms. While the serial numbers are not matching, the rifle remains an excellent representative of the famed Gras system that helped usher military forces into the metallic-cartridge era. The Gras rifle served France and numerous foreign nations around the globe, becoming one of the most recognizable military arms of its generation.
