Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a "V"-notch integral to the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece smooth walnut. There is an "OWA" cartouche on the left toward the bottom, an "A" inspection mark on the bottom to the right of the butt and the backstrap inlet has "PC1328" hand-written. The grip has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grip is in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blue & Case Color
Finish Originality: The frame's finish appears Original. The grip frame is Professionally Restored, replaced barrel and cylinder. Per the consignor, the work was performed by Dave Lanara.
Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling. There is scattered very minor erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8+/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is infrequent faint oxidation, almost all on the grip frame. The action shows faint operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine-plus condition as custom restored.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Single Action Army, as we know it, began life as the U.S. government service revolver (for trials) of 1872. The gun was soon adopted as the standard military service revolver until 1892. The Colt Single Action Army has been offered in over 30 different calibers and various barrel lengths. Its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1873. Colt has discontinued its production twice, but brought it back due to popular demand each time. This example was produced to commemorate 100 years of the Peacemaker, made in 1873.
The Peacemaker Centennial paid homage to the original by bringing back the "black powder" frame, with the cylinder pin retained by a screw, a "bullseye" ejector tab, two-line patent date, and "C" (centennial) inspector marks where original Ordnance inspection marks would be placed. This example has seen further customization, per the consignor the work was done by noted Colt restoration specialist Dave Lanara. This customization includes a more accurate blue finish, replacement cylinder with the short lead-in grooves typical of earliest production M1873 revolvers, original font-style on the cylinder and barrel serial markings, and "A" Ainsworth inspection mark on the cylinder. The result is a revolver even closer to the original design than Colt's commemorative, still housed in the original Colt presentation case.
