C.L. Schindler & Sohn Model Percussion Double Barr

Serial # NSN. Approx. 20 ga percussion fired double barrel shotgun with 28” barrels. The bores are good with light rust. The right lock plate is marked “C.L. Schindler & Sohn”, the left lock plate is marked “Zella Bey Gotha”. The markings on the barrel rib are illegible. C.L. Schindler was a well regarded German gun maker who operated from about 1769 until WWI. The metal finish on the barrels is a blotchy brown patina with thinning along with patches of rust and scattered pitting. The engraved lock plates, hammers and the trigger guard were blued long ago and show thinning with older cleaned rust. The checkered walnut half stock held with a wedge is in fair condition showing dings scratches and finish wear, There is a large crack in the butt. There is a Greek 50 Lepta coin from the 1960’s inlayed into the right side of the butt and a small window with tiny dice surrounded by brass tacks in a star pattern on the left side. European style swivels. The right hammer works OK, the left hammer just flops back and forth. Includes a dowel rod for a ramrod.
