Our Assessment: Colt's Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the "gun that won the west", perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers. This revolver is a beauty to behold and one of the finest single action revolvers ever produced. It is in Excellent condition with 99% of its factory blue and casehardened finish, a bright bore with sharp rifling and strong mechanics. It is chambered for the original .45 Colt cartridge with a wonderful set of factory ivory grips.
Unlike the majority of SAAs, this example is the Storekeeper's Model, essentially a Sheriff's Model with a 4" barrel. Due to the shorter barrel, the frame has no provision for an ejector assembly. The revolver also has some older features. It's "black powder" frame secures the cylinder pin with a screw rather than a cross-pin and the frame has a three-line patent marking. Showing no sign of use since leaving the factory, this revolver will take a prized place in a Colt collection and would certainly make for a gorgeous "BBQ gun" or carry piece. Please see our photos and good luck!
