Man. This antique photograph is an albumen print depicting a post-mortem portrait of a man, a genre of photography common in the Victorian era used to memorialize the deceased. The subject is dressed in a dark suit and tie, posed horizontally on a cot or narrow bed as if in sleep. The interior setting features distinctive floral-patterned wallpaper in the background. The print is mounted on a large, dark gray textured cardstock board with a debossed border around the image. While the process is identified as an albumen print, the image displays a prominent monochromatic blue tonal range. The reverse of the mount contains faint, illegible handwritten notations in pencil.
