Artifacts, Ground Stone Tools, and Geological Specimens. This collection consists of pieces comprising worked stone artifacts and natural geological specimens, consistent with North American surface finds. The assembly includes a variety of lithic artifacts such as projectile points in various stages of completion, including notched and stemmed examples. A significant portion of the collection is composed of lithic debitage, including flakes and fragments resulting from the tool-making process. The materials include various colors of chert, flint, and jasper. Also present is an elongated, cylindrical ground stone tool, likely utilized as a whetstone, abrading stone, or small pestle. The geological and paleontological specimens include unworked stone nodules, quartz, and at least one specimen of fossilized coral, possibly of the rugose or tabulate variety. A small projectile point features red inventory markings consisting of the characters 2 and 7. Items range in size from approximately 0.5 inches to 5 inches in length.<br>The elongated stone tool measures approximately 4.25 inches in length. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Thursday, May 28 from 11 am to 7 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
