and Vintage Spectacles and Eyeglass Cases. A varied collection of late 19th and early 20th-century eyewear and protective cases. The lot includes multiple pairs of wire-rimmed spectacles with oval and round glass lenses, many featuring flexible cable or riding bow temples. One pair is designed in a rimless style with decorative gold-toned bridge and temple attachments. Also included is a pair of pince-nez spectacles with a flexible tension bridge. The collection is accompanied by several hardshell metal cases, some with colored textile linings in blue and burgundy. A case features a green pebble-grain finish and contains a paper retailer label for W. R. Shaw, Optometrist and Optician, Coshocton, Ohio. Another metal case bears a handwritten dealer tag identifying it as a Civil War period metal eyeglass case, with a noted patent date of January 1864.
