This large collection of American paper goods and historical documents spans the mid-19th to the mid-20th century, with a focus on industrial history and regional Ohio interest. Included are Western Union Telegraph Company materials such as a bound manual titled Plant Department: Instructions and Rules Pertaining to the Construction and Maintenance of Outside Plant and a 1926 specification card for crossarm distributing boxes. Railroadiana includes 1949 U.S. Railroad Retirement Board certificates, a New York Central Lines Engineering Committee booklet regarding standards for way fences and gates, and a Hocking Valley Buckeye Route ticket. Multiple railroad-style time books are present, including a promotional Signal Overall and Shirt time book from Hilker-Wiechers Mfg. Co. of Racine, Wisconsin.
