American Painted Cast Iron Bank Pedestal Base

A cast iron still bank or decorative figure modeled as an eagle with outspread wings. The eagle is depicted with its head turned downward and toward its right, perched upon a square pedestal base featuring a tiered design with a molded egg-and-dart border. The item is constructed from cast iron with prominent vertical mold seams. A coin slot is located on the upper portion of the eagle's back. The piece retains traces of a polychrome painted finish, including white on the head and tail, red on the beak and talons, and a dark grey or black body color. The assembly is secured with Phillips-head screws visible in the chest and under the wings.
