Height:28cm (11.02in) , Diameter:25cm (9.84in) Straight mouth, short neck, full shoulder, bulging body and tapering lower section, imposing large?scale form. Decorated throughout in yellow?ground green?enamel. Bright yellow ground offset by green?enamel continuous scene of immortals celebrating birthday. Central deity seated, surrounded by numerous immortals with varied expressions, set among pines, cypresses, auspicious clouds, rocks and mythical beasts. Neck and foot are bordered with green?enamel scrolling lotus and upward?pointing lotus petals. Base covered with green glaze, incised regular?script mark ??Da Ming Jia?Jing Nian Zhi??. Yellow?ground green?enamel is a prestigious imperial ware of Jiajing reign. The ??immortals celebrating birthday?? is a classic court?auspicious theme. Monumental size, striking colour contrast and dense decoration make this a representative large?sized Ming?dynasty coloured porcelain.
