Lithic Artifacts and Ground Stone Tools Including Scioto County Ohio Provenance. This collection includes over a a group of North American Indigenous lithic artifacts primarily representative of the Ohio River Valley region. The assemblage features a wide variety of projectile points including arrowheads and spearheads in various stemmed, corner-notched, and side-notched forms, spanning the Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian periods. Material composition includes various regional cherts and flints such as Flint Ridge and Coshocton varieties, showing evidence of percussion and pressure flaking. Associated ground stone tools include a large polished greenstone celt, several hammerstones, and a nutting stone with a distinct central depression. The collection also contains several stone discs, possibly discoidals, and flattened stones with hand-drilled biconical holes used as pendants or ornaments. One of the drilled pendants bears a handwritten inscription in black ink: FLURTS / SCIOTO COUNTY / 2/15/63. Included in the collection is a vintage King Edward Imperial cigar box containing manufacturing debitage, flint spalls, and raw quarry fragments. Geological and fossil specimens are also present, including a brachiopod fossil and a piece of fossilized wood. glass dome-shaped magnifying lenses and several contemporary and vintage display cases are included.
