Artifacts, Regional Ohio Ephemera, and Vintage Educational Materials. A collection of lithic tools, ethnographic objects, regional ephemera, and personal records primarily centered on the Ohio River Valley region. The lithic assortment includes various chert and flint projectile points and scrapers, some organized with identifying labels for Adena, Hopewell, and Paleo-to-Woodland periods. Ethnographic and decorative items include a hand-painted wooden tomahawk with fur trim and metal discs; a turtle shell rattle with wooden handle and feathers; a rattle with a stone gourd head and beaded handle; a fringed buckskin pouch with glass seed beads; and a dark carved stone pipe in the form of an otter or aquatic mammal. Educational and display items feature a framed board demonstrating Navajo botanical dyes with a miniature loom; an educational Audubon Chart No. 3 wall poster featuring watercolor bird illustrations published by the Milton Bradley Company with a 1912 copyright; and a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence. The archival portion of the lot contains multiple Westab Spiral brand composition notebooks containing handwritten personal diaries from the 1950s and 1960s; vintage newspapers including The Messenger from Athens, Ohio and Akwesasne Notes; a monochrome lithographic print of the Siege of Vicksburg; and various 20th-century paper goods. Natural specimens include a coyote or fox pelt, large bird feathers, and a large dried gourd. Also included are an aqua glass rectangular bottle and a small glass ink bottle with a partial paper label.
