Stone Artifacts Including a Gorget, Discoidals, and Celts. This collection consists of prehistoric North American stone artifacts characteristic of the Archaic and Woodland periods from the Eastern Woodlands or Midwest regions. The assortment includes one expanded-center or winged style gorget fashioned from polished dark slate, featuring a centrally drilled hole. discoidal stones are present, representing round, flattened gaming or ceremonial objects created using pecked and ground lithic technology. The grouping also contains a group of celts and hand tools, including tapered un-grooved axes and An elongated pestle-like tool. These implements are crafted from various hardstones, including diorite, greenstone, and granite, and feature polished bits with pecked polls. An additional fragment of a highly polished, dark-colored stone artifact is included in the collection.
