World War II Home Front Rationing Ephemera. This collection encompasses a diverse range of American historical memorabilia, primarily focusing on the Civil War era and the World War II home front. Civil War related items include a cast metal Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) marker designed as a five-pointed star with a central medallion inscribed G.A.R. 1861 1865 and the fraternity motto letters F, C, and L; a wood-framed engraving of Major-General James B. McPherson, identified as the Commander of the Army of the Tennessee; a wood-framed photographic portrait of a seated Union soldier in uniform; an oval-framed photograph of a group of veterans with a flag; and a group of miniature cast metal rifles. Also included is an assortment of black-and-white photographic prints of Civil War soldiers and musicians, several of which bear NOV 68 date stamps on the margins. World War II era materials are contained in a black frame and consist of various United States Office of Price Administration (OPA) documents. These include War Ration Book a group of issued to Homer A. Stanley of Athens, Ohio, a Mileage Ration Identification card for David Kennard of Carbondale, Ohio, a green $5.00 Federal Use Tax on Motor Vehicles stamp valid through June 30, 1943, and multiple sheets of unused ration coupons for meat, fats, fish, cheeses, coffee, and sugar. The collection is rounded out by a wooden apple crate lid for Stonewall Brand Virginia Apples from Stonewall Orchards, Inc. of Winchester, Virginia, which features a printed portrait of General T.J.
