THREE DECKS OF PLAYING CARDS - BICYCLE RIDER BACK POKER, HOYLE MINIATURE, AND A CONGRESS SEASHELL-BACK DECK IN A DECORATED BOX
Three boxed decks of playing cards. The first is a red Bicycle Rider Back poker deck in the familiar white and red box; the flap seal is torn through and the printed U.S. Playing Card blue seal is ripped and partly missing, and the box side is printed "AIR-CUSHION FINISH MADE IN U.S.A." with "POKER" across the top flap. Cards are present inside and a five of spades is shown fanned out with clean white faces. The second is a Hoyle Miniature deck in a small tan-orange box printed with a joker and "MINIATURE / PLAYING CARDS / HOYLE," with a UPC barcode reading 41187 02904 on the reverse; cards are present and shown standing in the open box. The third is a Congress deck with a seashell-and-netting back design in teal and blue, housed in a plain grey cardboard slipcase box with a matching printed shell panel on the lid; a joker card printed "CONGRESS" is shown on top of the stack, and the back of that box is penciled "Tony H." in old handwriting over faint pressed lettering that is no longer readable. Flaws include the torn Bicycle seal and rubbed, soiled box; split and frayed seams, dinged corners, and a torn top edge on the Hoyle box; and edge wear, soiling, and scuffing on the Congress box along with white flecking and handling wear on the card edges. UNTESTED - none of the three decks has been counted or checked for completeness, and no deck is represented as full or as containing its jokers. Sold as a lot of three decks with boxes.

Attribution note
Bicycle and Congress are both long-running brands of the United States Playing Card Company, Bicycle as its everyday workhorse line with the Rider Back pattern and Congress as its upscale bridge line, which was issued for decades with decorative pictorial backs - florals, landscapes, animals, and beach and shell scenes like the one here - and typically sold in slipcase boxes for single or double decks. Hoyle, another familiar American brand, issued small novelty and travel formats including the miniature deck shown. Torn seals on Bicycle boxes are ordinary evidence the deck was opened and played with rather than a defect in manufacture, and a barcode on the Hoyle box places that one in the later part of the twentieth century rather than the mid-century. The penciled "Tony H." on the Congress box is a former owner's mark, not a maker mark. No exact issue dates, print runs, or pattern names are established for any of the three and none is claimed. All period, maker, and origin comments are offered as the consignor's photo-based opinion and are not guaranteed. Bid on the item(s) as pictured.
