The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good-Fine condition as Antique.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1892 Rifle made in the first year of production. Its 24" octagonal barrel is chambered for .38-40 and has been equipped with a tang sight. The .38-40 WCF was developed from the earlier .44-40, necked down to about .40 caliber. The gun has fairly light wear given its age of more than 130 years and has likely served its previous owners well. It retains a fair bore and strong mechanics as well as the majority of its original metal finish. This early Winchester M1892 rifle will certainly interest the Winchester collectors, but may also still be ready for a few more trips out in the field. Please see our photos and good luck!
