1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar United States Coin
1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar United States Coin
This 1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar is a significant piece of American numismatic history, representing the final year of the iconic Morgan design. Struck at the Denver Mint, this coin features the "D" mint mark on the reverse above the "DOLLAR" inscription. The obverse showcases the classic profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, while the reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows. Composed of 90% silver, this business strike coin displays the characteristic luster and detail expected from the 1921 Denver production. It serves as a cornerstone for any collection focusing on early 20th-century United States currency or silver coinage.
1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar United States Coin
Condition: The coin appears to be in Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated circulated condition. It retains strong details in Liberty's hair and the eagle's breast feathers, though there is visible light wear on the high points and various small contact marks or "bag marks" consistent with its age. The surfaces show a natural aged luster. This coin was minted at the Denver Mint, as indicated by the D mint mark on the reverse. It is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. The 1921 Morgan dollar was the final year of the series and the only year the Denver Mint produced this design, following the passage of the Pittman Act of 1918 which required the melting and re-coining of millions of silver dollars. This is a business strike type coin and is currently raw/ungraded in a protective 2x2 cardboard flip.
