Excellent selection of a WWII 1:18 scale plastic model plane, perfect for any hobbyist to put on display. The model was produced by 21st Century Toys, a toy manufacturer best known for their highly detailed and historically accurate military action figures and vehicles. The featured plane is the Vought F4U Corsair measuring 22” in length and 28” in wingspan.
The plane features a high level of interactive detail, including rotating propellers, moveable landing gears, and an opening cockpit canopy. Plane comes complete with a pilot figure as well. Item has been opened and assembled for display but is in excellent condition, showcasing as very complete without defects or damage.
The Vought F4U Corsair was a formidable American carrier-based fighter (also bomber) that served primarily in World War II and the Korean War. The plane was known for its iconic inverted gull-wing design and massive propeller, making it one of the most recognized aircraft of the era. The Japanese troops nicknamed it “Whistling Death” due to the eerie, high-pitched sound created by air through the wing-root oil coolers during dives.
