Excellent selection of a WWII 1:18 scale plastic model plane, perfect for any hobbyist to put on display. The model was produced by 21st Century Toys, a toy manufacturer best known for their highly detailed and historically accurate military action figures and vehicles. The featured plane is the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, measuring 25” in length and a wingspan of 35”.
The plane features a high level of interactive detail, including rotating propellers, moveable landing gears, and an opening cockpit canopy. Plane comes complete with a pilot figure as well. Item has been opened and assembled for display but is in excellent condition, showcasing as very complete without defects or damage.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a revolutionary twin-engine, twin boom fighter that served as one of the most versatile and feared American aircraft of World War II. Designed by Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, the P-38’s unique layout was developed by the need to house large turbo-superchargers and heavy armament. It was the first military airplane to exceed 400 mph in level flight. During the war, German pilots dubbed it “The Fork-Tailed Devil” and were weary to face it in air battles.
