Vintage Regal Canada Chewbacca Plush (1977)
Plush Toy | A New Hope | 1977 | Canadian Market Release
Regal Toy Company was a Toronto-based licensee that held a separate Canadian licence specifically for Star Wars plush, independent from Kenner Canada's action figure and vehicle licence. Both companies ended up in Canadian toy aisles together, but operated under entirely different ownership. Regal went bankrupt in 1984 after a series of ownership changes, keeping their overall production run short and their items comparatively scarce today.
The small Chewbacca has a noticeably larger head than the Kenner US version, different tag placement (waist rather than back of neck), and no tape on the bandolier canisters. All the expected differences are present and correct.
